This Privacy Policy explains what information Fort ("Fort", "we", "us") collects when you use the Fort app and the website fortapp.live (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who can use Fort

Fort is a voice social platform for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live if that is higher, to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete the associated information. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account information. When you register we collect the sign-in method you choose and its identifier: an e-mail address, or the identifier, name and profile picture returned by a third-party sign-in such as Google or Facebook. We never receive your password for those services.
  • Profile information. Nickname, avatar, gender, date of birth, country or region, bio, photos and other details you add to your profile.
  • Content you create. Messages, room names and notices, posts, comments, pictures, and the voice you transmit in rooms and calls.
  • Purchases. The items you buy, the amount, the time and the order status. Payments are handled by the app store or the payment provider; we do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Support and reports. What you send to customer service, feedback you submit, and reports you file about other users, including any screenshots you attach.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and network information. Device model, operating system and version, language, time zone, app version, device identifiers, IP address, network type and carrier.
  • Usage information. Rooms you enter, features you use, people you follow, gifts sent and received, and the times of these actions.
  • Diagnostics. Crash logs and performance data that help us find and fix faults.
  • Advertising and install information. The advertising identifier of your device, where your operating system and your settings allow it, and information about the advertisement or link that led to the installation.

2.3 Information collected with your permission

The app asks for the permissions below only when a feature needs them. You can refuse or withdraw any of them in your device settings; the related feature will then stop working, but the rest of the app will not.

  • Microphone: speaking in voice rooms and calls, sending voice messages.
  • Camera and photos: taking or choosing a picture for your avatar, posts, messages or a report.
  • Location: showing your region and suggesting nearby rooms and people.
  • Notifications: telling you about messages, invitations and activity on your account.
  • Phone state and Bluetooth (Android): pausing audio during a phone call and using a headset.
  • Display over other apps (Android): keeping a small room window on screen while you use another app.

3. How we use information

  • To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
  • To run the Service: connect you to voice rooms, deliver messages, show profiles, process purchases and deliver virtual items.
  • To recommend rooms, people and content that may interest you.
  • To keep the community safe: detect and investigate spam, fraud, abuse and breaches of our Terms of Service, and to enforce those terms.
  • To review content. Pictures, text and other content may be checked by automated tools and by human moderators, and room activity may be reviewed when it is reported or flagged.
  • To measure and improve the Service, fix faults, and understand how effective our marketing is.
  • To send you service messages and, where you allow it, notifications about activity and events.
  • To comply with the law and to protect our rights and the rights of our users.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service, your consent (for example for device permissions and advertising identifiers), and our legal obligations.

4. What other users can see

Fort is a social service. Your nickname, avatar, user ID, profile details, level, badges, the rooms you are in, and what you say or post in public areas are visible to other users. What you say in a voice room is heard by everyone in that room. Other users may record, copy or share what you make public, and we cannot control that. Please think before you share.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers that process information for us under contract: cloud hosting and storage, content delivery, e-mail delivery, customer support, content moderation and payment processing.
  • Software embedded in the app. The app includes components from the following providers, which receive the information needed for their function:
    • Agora: real-time voice transmission.
    • Google Firebase: push notifications, analytics, crash reports, performance monitoring and remote configuration.
    • Google and Facebook (Meta): sign-in, when you choose that method, and sharing.
    • Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchase: purchases.
    • Adjust and AppsFlyer: measuring installs and the performance of advertising.
    • Sentry: crash and error diagnostics.
    • Sud: the mini-games available inside rooms.
  • Legal and safety reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is needed to protect the safety, rights or property of users, the public or Fort.
  • Business transfers. If the Service is merged, sold or reorganised, information may be transferred to the new operator, who must continue to honour this policy.
  • With your consent, or at your direction, in any other case.

6. Where information is stored

Our servers are located in Singapore. Our providers may process information in other countries. If you use the Service from another country, your information is transferred to and stored in places whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

7. How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account exists and for as long as needed for the purposes described above. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period. Some records are kept longer where the law requires it or where we need them to resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or keep financial records. Content you sent to other users may remain visible in their conversations.

8. Your choices and rights

  • See and correct. You can view and edit your profile in the app at any time.
  • Delete. You can delete your account in the app settings. Deletion is permanent: your profile, virtual items and balances cannot be restored.
  • Permissions. You can switch device permissions and notifications on or off in your device settings.
  • Advertising identifier. You can reset or limit the advertising identifier, or refuse tracking, in your device settings.
  • Block and report. You can block other users and report content from their profile, from a room or from a conversation.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. To make a request, contact us as described below. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.

9. Security

We protect information with measures such as encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us straight away if you think your account has been used without your permission.

10. Links and third-party services

The Service may link to websites or services that we do not operate. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not apply to them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by another suitable means before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.

12. Contact us

If you have questions about this document or want to exercise your rights, contact us through Customer Service in the Fort app. You can also find us at fortapp.live.
